ONCE UPON A TIME .........

There was a saluki, born in Wavre, Belgium, on the 27 of march 1977, his head covered with a little grey hood, which later on seemed to belong to his specific colour " GRIZZLE" and listening ( or better not listening at all !!) to the name BELLIK DE PANDJAH.

He was a  son of Gamara's Beloved Silver-Star ( Mrs. Udema) and Branwen Zoubida (Mrs.Boissevain),  grandson of the famous Tahawi Vash Gamara (Mr. Thorn) At the age of 8 weeks, he walked into our hearts , teached us the meaning of "civil disobedience" and from that day on our life would never be the same anymore. Could we know !! 13 months old, we decided to take him to the race-track in Londerzeel, a little village only a few kms. away from our home and already shut down for many years now,and were so proud to see him chasing the rabbit and just got crazy over it ! Dog-shows were not our piece of cake, but as friends insist to accompany them to the exhibition at Antwerpen, we engaged Bellik for his very first BRABO-show.To our surprise, Bellik actually succeeded in winning his first CAC in youth-class under close competition, and even became BOS under judge Mrs.Wilson-Stringer, and yes, off we went ! He still got several CAC's under reputated judges as Mrs. hope Waters, Mr.Tavazanni, Mr.Jordan, Mr.Lelong, and so on. Bellik produced one litter of five pups, from which we kept the tricolour dog Elam-Tur, and a few years later his grandson Ilias, white and red-parti . Besides the shows,we also started up a sort of circle of friends, under the name ISTK which meant International Saluki Trainings-Kern (?! what's in a name) and went from one racing track to another, having the time of our lives.

To our nice surprise, we had visitors in august '08 who still own a half-sister to our dear granny's Xanthi and Xerini .	Her name is Abracadabra's Ulebey ( pictured age 13) here with her mum . Thanks to the fam. Peys !!

 

                                                                       And then, like a bolt from the blue, our vet detected a malignant tumour in Belliks knee-joint, at the age of seven years. Two weeks later, my precious, proud dog, was reduced to a pitiful little creature, all we could do for him was to release him out of its pain.From that day on I quit my activities concerning shows and coursings, and my plans to become saluki-judge I dumped in the garbage-can.Elam-Tur and Ilias became home-loving pets and accompanied us in our walks and voyages. They had more luck and reached respectively 11 and 14 years.

But, as one says, true love never dies and under very special circumstances the two litter sisters Abracadabra's Xanthi, gold-cream, and Xerini, grizzle, decided to adopt us and came to our home to stay forever ! As you probably can guess, there we went for a second time in another time and another place, but with the same passion to realise at last a dream : breeding a litter of saluki's ourselves !!
